Here at Hollyhock Lane, we spend a lot of time swooning over real weddings and we're often blown away with the creativity and vision of brides and grooms and how they create their perfect wedding days. We've brought together four real life weddings to illustrate some incredibly imaginative and picture perfect ways of decorating your wedding venue. We hope you enjoy these weddings as much as we did and appreciate the individuality and flair each couple has and that you're inspired along the way.
You may have chosen your wedding venue, but choosing the right decor for it can be mind blowing. Are you a hip, urban couple with your sights set on a smart, yet industrial city wedding or more traditional style home birds or are you all about the full on glamour and opulence? Take a peek at these stylish, classic, contemporary, bohemian and urban weddings for some decorative ideas:
Ali and Jon's stylish black tie destination wedding in Portugal was featured on Rock My Wedding blog. It was abundant with greenery, pretty white flowers, elegant gold accents and a festoon of lights. Their show stopping tablescape encapsulated the enchanting gardens in which their celebration was set. The couple took full advantage of the Portuguese climate and held their reception outdoors. It had an old world charm about it ... pure romance and glamour. Golden candles picked up on accents of gold on the walls of their venue while boughs of greenery formed a dramatic wedding arch. The abundance of foliage and dreamy lighting created a warm atmosphere and the white linen table cloths and crystal and glass gave a very polished finish. Gold candles, candle sticks, lanterns, cutlery and tableware reflected the opulence and grandeur of this Portuguese manor house venue. The classic combination of gold, white and green was just lovely.
The effortlessly cool wedding of Alison and Patrick featured on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings blog is the perfect example of how a small design feature, a geometric shape for example, can form the basis for your wedding decor and transform a blank canvas like an art gallery wedding into a hip, design led, contemporary space. The modern geometric hanging backdrop tied all their featured colours together, as did their commissioned piece of artwork. The use of grey and copper added an industrial feel as well, but was perfectly balanced by a softer blush pink. The art gallery set celebration had table names named after artists and with these simple but brilliant touches, the couple created a thoroughly contemporary, artistic, urban wedding.
If whimsical and woodland is more your style then Summer and Chase's wedding is a masterclass in outdoorsy celebrations. This lovely do featured on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings and was set in a clearing nestled among leafy green trees and wildflowers in a North Carolina wood. The wood was dressed immaculately and sympathetically with rich, rustic jewel toned blooms and greenery. The couple embraced the woodland theme in doors and out with large botanical hanging installations and personalised wooden signage. They also added a touch of glamour with a beautiful glass chandelier suspended from their wedding arch and hints of luxe, glitter and gold and a festoon of sparkly fairy lights. The other stand out decor elements were the bohemian touches of old church pews and mismatched wooden chairs for the guests to sit on during the wedding ceremony and a carpet of vintage rugs adorning the aisle.
If you're planning on getting married in the city, take a look at Nichola and Pete's cool city wedding featured on Love My Dress. The contemporary monochrome decoration paired with the wild, colourful floral arrangements clashed perfectly .... yes in a good way! The vivid pops of colour added warmth to the grand marble fireplaces. And with elements of gold on the reception tables, just the right amount of shiny. The couple said their vows and held their wedding breakfast at the ever so stylish One Horse Guards in Westminster, followed by a Thames River boat reception ..... just so perfectly London!
